Interview with Billy Blade of REVL'ON RED
by Johnny Rainbow (Feb. 2005)
REVL'ON RED IS ONE OF THE HOTTEST GLAM BAND OF THE L.A. UNDERGROUND SCENE.

THEY RELEASED SOME DEMOS AND THEY PLAYED IN ALMOST EVERY HOLLYWOOD CLUB!

LET'S TALK WITH BILLY BLADE (BASS PLAYER) ABOUT REVL'ON RED'S WORLD:
1) How did your musical career start?
The first time I remember thinking about being in a band was when I was just a youngster and I saw Kiss on the Paul Lynde Halloween Special. They were so different than any other group I had seen I just had to do that. I didn't start playing till I was in High School, I hung out with all the stoners and it was just the thing to do. Then a friend who was really good on the guitar eventually got me to play bass along with him.

2) When did you guys have met?
I met Marky first though I don't know if he remembers. It was at the infamous Candy Cane Lane band room sometime in the mid 90's, me and a friend jammed on some glam covers ( Traci from the Peppermint Creeps played a song with us) anyways, forward up to 1998, my metal band just broke up and I was
looking through ads and come across one that sounded good but didn't say what band it was. I called the number and it was the revline. We set up an audition with myself, Richie and Mayhem (he was the drummer back then). been together ever since.

3) Listening to your demos it reminds me of some great 80's bands (Outta control, Hollywood), but also of some punk bands like The Ramones (Try, The Secret.) I know you play The Ramones' "We want the airwaves" live ^_^...how would you describe your sound?
I personally call it sleaze cheeze!
I don't know...glam with a touch of punk, goth and maybe some
good ole' Cheap Trick style rock and roll!

4) Revl'on red played shows with Vince Neil, Skid Row, Faster Pussycat and many more, (for most of the glamsters around the world is something like a dream come true), how did you react about that?
For me that's exactly what it is, a dream come true.
My first show was opening for Pretty Boy Floyd when Kristy had just rejoined the band. Then we opened for Lizzy Borden, very cool bunch of guys. It's funny but it seems like we've played with most of the bands from the Metal Years movie. Faster Pussycat, Lizzy Borden, Spiders and Snakes ( formerly London) and Odin.

5) You've been voted for the 4th time as Best Glam Rock Band of the Rock City News awards.what you can say about that:
Rock City News has been around since back in the day in fact some of the old glossy covers are classic, and any time you get an award it's a great feeling. next comes the Grammy.

6) Tell us something about a typical Revl'on Red show...
Big lips, big hair and big di... oops! sorry!! I don't know, hopefully lot's
of fun for everyone there. We have so much more we hope to add to the shows in the future, like more lights , more smoke and some day we will add some cool pyros! Love the pyros!

7) What do you think about the L.A. scene right now? I mean,it seems that there's a reborn in hollywood of new glam bands...
It's getting better, there is actually some sort of a scene going on, though very underground.
There are some cool bands again like the Peppermint Creeps, Toxic Twist, BLaQ and of course us.

8) When do you think we all can hear some new materials?
That's a good question! Wish I had an answer for you, but I don't...

9) Any plans for the future?
For now just keep playing whenever we can and hope someday to play outside of the U.S. also to promote the crap out of myself! So with that said everyone who reads this should hit me up on
MySpace
Thanks for the support!
