Black Diamonds – No-Tell Hotel

Lookin’ like modern days cowboys in eyeliner and sounding like a mix of 80’s rock and 21st century new wave of sleaze here it comes this 4-piece Swiss mob keeping the street rock flag flying!

I must admit I wasn’t familiar with the band before but since I heard the first notes of this release Black Diamonds really got me hooked. Riffing a go-go and choruses that I’m sure would really work well live. Opener “No-Tell Motel” and “Evil Twin” reminds me of CrashDiet while “Lonesome Road” sounds like a laid back Backyard Babies tune (when they want to slow the place a tad). “Forever Wild” might be a live fave in an explosive Hardcore Superstar wave: guess what…they sure seem to like the new wave of Scandi rock and this is a totally cool thing in my book!

“Saturday” is a party rock tune L.A. Strip style, close your eyes and think of when MTV was playing real video clips à-la Girls Girls Girls! “Anytime” is the token ballad and the rest of the album keeps rocking and rolling with the likes of “Hand in Hand” and “Reaching for the Stars”, other bands that come to my mind listening to these tracks are Crazy Lixx and Private Line, not a bad song on offer here until the funny closing track “Outlaw” that could be a nice soundtrack for a 2021 cowboy movie. Well done Diamond boyz. :: Facebook :: Metalapolis Records
