Plastic Tears – Anthems for Misfits

After three years from the release of the critically acclaimed “Angels with Attiude” the five-piece Finnish mob is back again with twelve new foot-tapping tracks.
“Doomsday Girls” starts the glamtrashpunkr&r ride with a bang, fast and noizy just the way we want Plastic Tears to be. 1st single “Riot Zone” has some smokin’ Thunders-like guitar riffing and a chorus that reeks on NYC trash – or maybe it’s the Tavastia in HELL-sinki!-
“Clash in the Night” follows with nice melodies and some desperation thrown in for good measure, “Look of Lies” has that la-la-la chorus that makes me wanna smile, drink n’dance all nite while “Hallucinations” and “Divine” were old demo favourites that have been re-recorded and sound better than ever: the former is an hypnotic tune that comes across like a tribute to Iggy Pop and the latter has an infectious chorus spurting 70’s glam all over the place. The album keeps rockin’ and rollin’ with other groovy songs such as “Restless Outsiders”,”Nobody Likes a Crybaby” and “Candlelight Hate Affaire” – great title by the way!- which actually show a streetwise band that has come up with its own unique sound, due to wasted nights inspired vocals, whisky soaked guitar riffs and a pedal-to-the-metal rhythm section. These boys may borrow but they do not steal! “Communication” was originally demoed in ’93 and still sounds fresh and stomping like the first time I had heard it. “Imaginary Virgin Mary” closes the opus with some dark-tinged street rock and roll and puts the mark on a buy-or-die sleazy affair.
